Kate McNaughton was born and raised in Paris by British parents. She was schooled in the French system, then studied literature at the University of Cambridge (English BA; European Literature MPhil). She has put her cultural schizophrenia to good use by working as a freelance translator since 2006, in varying combinations of English, French, German and Italian. She is also a filmmaker.
