Géraldine Sfez, a former student of the École normale supérieure, doctor of philosophy, is a lecturer in film studies at the University of Lille and a member of the CEAC (Center for the Study of Contemporary Arts). Since 2018, she has co-directed the journal Déméter. Théories et pratiques artistiques contemporaines. Her research focuses on the aesthetics and theory of contemporary visual arts and is mainly focused on the relationship between cinema and contemporary art.
She co-organized the seminar “ Écrans exposés. Cinéma, art contemporain, médias” at the INHA (National Institute of Art History) from 2012 to 2015. As an extension of this reflection on screens, she published “ Faire signaler des images. Du flipbook aux écrans tactiles”, with Riccardo Venturi, in the journal Specimen, n°8, 2015, as well as “Corps appareillés, gestes redisposés” in the electronic journal Fabula, 2018. She is preparing, with Riccardo Venturi, a book on “L’attrait des écrans”.
