Susan Carol Rogers is retired from New York University, where she taught sociocultural anthropology and French Studies for over thirty years. Having conducted ethnographic research in rural communities in France and the American Midwest since the 1970s, she is the co-author of Paysans, femmes et citoyens…Lorrain (Actes Sud, 1980), author of Shaping modern times in rural France… Aveyron (Princeton, 1991), co-editor of Transatlantic parallaxes: Toward reciprocal anthropology (Ed. CNRS, 2012; Berghahn, 2015), and author of several dozen articles in French and American journals about gender, economic change, agriculture in France and the US, anthropology of France, and anthropology-close-to-home.
