Pierre Purseigle

Pierre Purseigle is a lecturer in history at the University of Birmingham. Founder and president of the International Society for the Study of the Great War (www.firstworldwarstudies.org), he has taught contemporary European history at the University of Toulouse and the University of Oxford. Author of several articles, he has also edited two collective works: Uncovered Fields. Perspectives in First World War Studies (Boston: 2004) and Warfare and Belligerence (Boston: 2005). A specialist in the First World War, he is currently preparing a book devoted to the processes of social mobilization and demobilization in France and Great Britain between 1914 and 1924.
