Lecturer-researcher at the University of Toulouse-II, currently director of the French Institute of Anatolian Studies (IFEA/Istanbul-USR3131).
He works on contemporary Turkey through its urban dynamics, and is notably the author of La Turquie en marche : les grandes mutations depuis 1980 (La Martinière, 2004) and a number of articles on contemporary Turkey in its urban aspects (see: ifea-istanbul.academia.edu/JFPerouse )
He is also a translator into French of Orhan Pamuk’s novel Neige (Gallimard).
