Rachel Mason Dentinger received her Bachelor of Science in biology at the University of Minnesota in 2001 and subsequently worked as a biology instructor and laboratory technician. In 2009, she received her PhD in the history of science and technology from the University of Minnesota, where she specialised in the history of biology and the history of science in the U.S., with a thesis entitled “The Nature of Defense: Coevolutionary Studies, Ecological Interaction, and the Evolution of ‘Natural Insecticides,’ 1959-1983".
