As well as institutional (UNESCO, EU institutions), cultural (Louvre Abu Dhabi, La Gaîté Lyrique, Oceaographic Museum of Monaco, Beaux Arts de Paris) and commercial work, Jack Sims has contributed numerous translations to academic publications in the fields of sociology of music and musicology, fine art and literature.
He has notably established long-standing translation partnerships with researchers writing on music at the Paris-Sorbonne (Paris 4) and Sorbonne Nouvelle (Paris 3), IReMus (Institut de recherche en Musicologie) and TeamED (Université Paris 8), contributing to Tacet, Volume ! and other academic journals as well as texts for Paris and Berlin label Artkillart.
Recent book length translations include Made in France: Studies in Popular Music edited by Gérôme Guibert and Catherine Rudent (Routledge, 2018) and The Practice of Musical Improvisation by Bertrand Denzler and Jean-Luc Guionnet (Bloomsbury, 2020).
