Florence Heymann

Florence Heymann, an anthropologist (CNRS), a researcher at the French Research Center in Jerusalem (CNRS-MAEE), is working on three research programs: 1) “The construction of identities and the perception of the past in the world: de la diaspora à Israël”, which focuses on the multiple identities of the Jewish natives of Bucovina and Czernowitz; 2) “The Shoah in Eastern Europe”, which focuses on Transnistria, a territory located between the Bug and Dniestr rivers, which Marshal Ion Antonescu’s regime regarded as its ‘ethnic dumping ground’, and where some of the most massive massacres of Jews during the Second World War took place; 3) “Constructions, deconstructions, and changes in religious identities in Israel”, on current mutations in Israeli society concerning multiple processes of religious, symbolic and social recompositions.
