Mariem Guellouz



Sociolinguist and performance artist, Mariem Guellouz is a lecturer at the University of Paris Cité and a researcher at CERLIS. She is interested in linguistic and aesthetic practices related to social and activist movements in the Arab world and more specifically in Tunisia. She approaches activist discourses as social and political performances and questions their performativity as well as their relationships with artistic creations. Part of her research also focuses on the construction of the body of Arab and Muslim artists/performers by nationalist, colonial and postcolonial discourses.
