Carole Gayet-Viaud

Carole Gayet-Viaud is a CNRS research fellow at CESDIP (Centre for Sociological Research on Law and Penal Institutions) and was an associate assistant professor at the École nationale supérieure d’architecture of Paris-La Villette from 2008 to 2011. Her work focuses on civil coexistence, at the crossroads of urban ecology, a moral sociology of sociability behaviors, and a political sociology of forms of public experience and civic engagement.

She co-edited, with Mathieu Berger and Daniel Cefaï,Du civil au politique. Ethnographies du vivre-ensemble (Éditions Peter Lang, « Action publique », 2011) and L’engagement ethnographique (Éditions de l’EHESS « Temps et lieux », 2010). She also wrote La civilité urbaine. Enquête sur les mœurs en régime démocratique (Economica, « Études sociologiques », 2013).
