Justin Daniel is Professor of political science at the Université des Antilles. Former director of the Laboratoire caribéen de sciences sociales (LC2S, UMR CNRS 8053), he conducts research into political issues and the construction of identity in the French overseas territories, as well as public policies relating to sustainable development in the Caribbean. He has coordinated various research programmes on the functioning of the ’peripheral’ state in France and co-edited five books. He recently co-ordinated, with Carine David, 75 ans de départementalisation outre-mer. Bilan et perspectives: de l’unité à la différenciation (L’Harmattan, 2021).
