Hubert Bonin is professor emeritus and researcher in economic history at Sciences Po Bordeaux at the UMR Cnrs 5113 Gretha-Université de Bordeaux. He specializes in the history of banking (with a program reconstructing the history of Société Générale between 1864 and 1945) and finance (factoring, asset management, merchant banking, wealth management), as well as the history of companies and tertiary organizations, entrepreneurship, and overseas trade and banking, always linking French history to European and international movements and networks. He also studies the presence of French banks and companies in the former Chinese concessions. Since 2013, he has led a program to reconstruct the economic war on the French side in 1914-1919, at the national, Girondin, colonial, and alcohol and wine levels. Finally, his field of research includes globalization, from history to the present: banking geopolitics, internationalization of banks, French maritime competitiveness, and the history of intercontinental logistic flows. He also organizes applied history events with corporate communication managers in order to “popularize” the methods and achievements of history.
