Cécile Boëx is an Arabist and holds a PhD in political science. Her dissertation focuses on film production in Syria (1964-2010) as a means of protest expression in an authoritarian context. She is currently researching the videos produced by demonstrators and activists in Syria as part of a post-doctoral project at the EHESS (CEIFR). She is particularly interested in cinematic writing processes and the protest uses of the religious component in the Syrian revolution.
