Élodie Bertrand

Associate Research professor at the French National Center for Scientific Research, Elodie Bertrand is an economist, specialised in the history of recent economic thought and in economic philosophy. Her work deals with the Nobel-laureate Ronald Coase (1910-2013) and more specifically with his idea that environmental nuisances (externalities) could be solved by market contracts. That leads her to analyse, on the one hand, the interactions between social norms and market contrast, and on the other hand, the delimitation between market and non-market.

She edited, with Claude Ménard, The Elgar Companion to Ronald Coase, Edward Elgar (2016).
