Benjamin Ferron is a doctor of political science and a lecturer in the Department of Political and Public Communication at the Université Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC), where he teaches the sociology of media and communication in connection with the analysis of collective action, activism and social movements. Attached to Céditec (EA3119), member of the Thematic Network “Sociologie des médias” of the French Association of Sociology and of the project group “Sociologie Politique de la communication” of the French Association of Political Science, his research focuses on the media communication strategies of transnational mobilizations, as well as on the role of the media in the construction of public problems. His work is published in various scientific journals including Pôle Sud, Revue Internationale de Politique Comparée, Media, Culture & Society and collective works including: Journalistes engagés (PUR, 2010), and Mediating Cultural Diversity in a Globalized Public Space, (Palgrave, 2012). He co-edited the book Des amateurs dans les médias (Presses des Mines, 2015) and published a book based on his thesis: La communication internationale du zapatisme (1994-2006) (PUR, 2015).
