Sophie Audidière



Sophie Audidière is a lecturer in philosophy at the Université de Bourgogne-Franche Comté, member of the Logiques de l’Agir research center. Her work focuses on the history of philosophy and materialism in 18th century France, from Fontenelle to Destutt de Tracy, on 18th century academism and encyclopaedism, and on the history of philosophy of education. She has conducted and published research on Fontenelle (Digression sur les Anciens et les Modernes et autres textes philosophiques, Paris, Garnier, 2016), on Helvetius; with J.-C. Bourdin and F. Markovits, Matérialistes français du XVIIIe siècle, Paris, PUF, 2006), on Diderot (with J.-C. Bourdin and C. Duflo, L’Encyclopédie du Rêve de D’Alembert, Paris, CNRS Éditions, 2006), or on the ideology of education. Since 2019, she has been director of the journal Dix-Huitième Siècle.
